Synopsis
BachWalk: Early Musical Journeys of Johann Sebastian Bach
BachWalk: Early Musical Journeys of Johann Sebastian Bach is a 27-minute documentary on the early career of J.S. Bach focusing on the years when he was a young, up-and-coming musician/composer. Woven throughout the film are organ performances in historic German churches and intimate interviews with five German organists who discuss the connections between their churches and the young Bach. Also included are visuals from an imagined route Bach may have taken while walking 250-plus miles from Arnstadt to Lübeck in order to hear and study with one of the most important composers of that time, Dietrich Buxtehude. These elements convey how this formative period in Bach's artistic life led to his subsequent status as one of the greatest composers in the history of classical music.
